Job summary

Alamosa School District Re-11-J is seeking an Athletics/Activities/Activity Sponsor/Coach to lead and supervise a comprehensive sports program. The coach will guide athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training while upholding high standards of sportsmanship and character development.

The role requires strong knowledge of the sport, effective supervision of staff, and ongoing professional development through clinics and observations.

Qualifications

• Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
• The head coach must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and continuously update theories and procedures.
• The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge of system, state and league regulations; implement and interpret them for staff.
• Understands proper administrative line of command and communicates through proper channels.
• Establishes the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff; designs clinics and staff meetings.
• Trains and informs staff; encourages professional growth through clinic attendance.
• Delegates duties, supervises implementation and evaluates assistants at season's end.
• Maintains discipline and morale; handles grievances and increases cooperation.
• Performs other duties as assigned by athletic director or principal.
