Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a skilled Motor Equipment Operator III to manage and operate a wide range of heavy construction machinery for street and drainage projects. You will lead a crew, direct other operators, and ensure safe, efficient operation in varying weather and traffic conditions.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of heavy equipment experience, with CDL permit or license as required for specific duties.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and three years of heavy equipment operation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• CDL instructional permit may be required at appointment and CDL license may be required within six months, depending on assignment.

Responsibilities

• Operates motor grader and heavy construction equipment for street construction and maintenance.
• Directs and oversees other equipment operators at job sites.
• Performs routine maintenance and inspections of assigned equipment.
• Keeps records of labor and materials and prepares work orders.
