Job summary

City of Gainesville is seeking an Equipment Operator II to perform a full range of street, water and sewer maintenance duties. You will operate, maintain and perform minor repairs on a variety of machinery under general supervision.

Duties include patching streets, laying bricks, pouring concrete, clearing storm drains, hauling materials and keeping service records. Requires three years in construction and a valid driver's license; ability to obtain Class A or B CDL within six months if

Qualifications

• Three years experience in construction or related field.
• Two years of experience comparable to Equipment Operator II in the City of Gainesville.
• Formal or informal education ensuring reading and writing ability.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and perform minor repairs on a variety of machinery and equipment.
• Assist in street repairs; patching holes and applying patching material.
• Lay bricks and use tar pot to tack streets; build fences as assigned.
• Trim/maintain foliage obstructing traffic signs and signs along streets; remove weeds.
• Mix, pour and finish concrete.
• Clear storm drains of debris and refuse.
• Haul asphalt, sand and gravel to work site.
• Maintain service and repair records for equipment.
