Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic A in Charlotte, NC to lead fleet maintenance and mentor B/C level mechanics. You will diagnose engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, perform routine and major repairs, and ensure work orders and parts are processed efficiently.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and on-time service within a branch operating framework. Requires 3 years of heavy equipment repair experience and a HS diploma, with competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or equivalent.
• 3 years of experience repairing heavy equipment.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of preventive maintenance for Herc-owned fleet.
• Operate and test equipment to meet Herc quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs independently.
• Diagnose engines, electrical, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
• Perform major repairs using diagnostic tools and hand/electric tools.
• Enter and review work orders and order parts via fleet system.
• Assist in training B and C level mechanics under lead.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and produce detailed service reports.
