Job summary

Midwest Star Group seeks an experienced Heavy‑Duty Diesel Service Writer to lead the Roberts diesel shop. You will direct daily workflow, coach technicians, and stay hands-on to keep repairs moving and on schedule.

You will communicate with customers, prepare estimates, and ensure repair orders are accurate from intake to invoicing, while maintaining safety and quality in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on heavy-duty diesel repair experience preferred.
• Previous leadership roles such as Shop Foreman or Service Writer are preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities essential.
• Knowledge of heavy‑duty engines, electrical systems, air brakes, hydraulics, and emissions systems.
• Experience with Class 7–8 trucks or heavy equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily workflow and overall operation of the heavy‑duty diesel shop.
• Assign and prioritize work to technicians based on skill, workload, and safety.
• Monitor open jobs and adjust priorities as needed.
• Provide technical direction and hands-on support to technicians.
• Assist with service writing, estimates, and customer communications.
• Ensure repairs are documented accurately from intake to invoicing.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional shop environment.
