Job summary

Ball State University is seeking a Heat Plant Group Leader to oversee the operation, maintenance, and inspection of all heat plant equipment on campus. You will direct a team during the 3rd shift (11:00 p.m.

to 7:00 a.m.), ensure EPA/OSHA compliance, and manage daily plant activities on the Heat Plant Operations department. The role requires strong leadership, hands-on technical skills, and the ability to work on a full-time, on-campus basis starting 09/18/2026.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Apprenticeship as Stationary Engineer or 6+ years boiler plant experience.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Assign and perform work related to maintenance, repair, and cleaning of Heat Plant equipment.
• Inspect tunnels and equipment for condition and recommend maintenance projects.
• Train Heat Plant staff in procedures for operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
• Evaluate and provide feedback on work performance of assigned employees.
