Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Project Manager to oversee planning, procurement, scheduling, and execution of commercial projects. The role requires leading a project team, managing budgets, and ensuring safety and quality standards on site.

The candidate will collaborate with the Superintendent, engage in estimation, PMP development, permit acquisition, and value engineering while maintaining strong client relationships and successful project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field.
• Preferably at least 5 years experience working in commercial construction.
• Construction experience in healthcare required.
• Understands estimating concepts to verify bids and process change orders.
• Understands contracts, laws, and practices to protect the company.
• Knows building codes, plans, blueprints, and design requirements.
• Effective working as a team member and delegation skills.
• Strong verbal and written presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Champions the Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures Constructing with Integrity is delivered with honesty, unity, safety, and quality.
• Works with the Superintendent to ensure successful project delivery and strengthen client relationships.
• Prepares estimates for the project and the project budget.
• Leads the project team in preparing the PMP and conducts pre-award and pre-construction meetings.
• Participates in value engineering, negotiates subcontracts, and secures permits and regulatory compliance.
• Develops the project schedule and milestones with the project superintendent.
• Manages procurement of materials and equipment within the budget and schedule.
• Monitors site performance and develops quality, safety, and risk management plans.
• Negotiates change orders and manages cost and profit impacts.
• Prepares monthly client pay requests and follows up on collections.
• Coordinates with accounting for payments and lien releases and participates in monthly reviews.
• Manages close-out procedures including as-builts and completion letters.
• Interacts with Estimating to provide cost data for the estimating database.
• Manages client relationships and all client meetings.
