Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily job-site operations, coordinating schedules, procurement, and manpower for healthcare construction projects. You will supervise direct labor, coordinate with the Project Manager, and ensure timely completion while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership, scheduling, and communication skills, plus experience with blueprints, codes, and subcontractor management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction related field or equivalent; 5+ years commercial construction experience.
• Experience within healthcare construction required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
• Reads blueprints accurately; understands building codes and design requirements.
• Knows subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances.
• Strong written and verbal communication; may prefer basic Spanish.
• Strong administrative and managerial skills; proactive and organized.
• Excellent problem-solving ability; works with teams to find solutions.
• Team player with good interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and conduct; self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Operates office equipment and common software (spreadsheets/word processing).
• Knowledge and use of CMiC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Studies specifications to plan construction procedures and staffing.
• Interacts with Project Manager to determine project schedule and look-ahead plans.
• Coordinates pre-construction meeting with Project Manager.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Maintains communication with clients, subs, and craft personnel about progress and issues.
• Resolves labor and scheduling conflicts; manages crew assignments to control costs.
• Oversees project management planning and ensures safety compliance and housekeeping.
