Job summary

NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development seeks a Compliance Specialist for Lead Hazard Control & Healthy Homes to strengthen agency-wide health and safety compliance. You will lead inter-agency coordination, assess risks, and provide guidance to staff on lead-based paint, mold, asthma triggers, radon, and other hazards.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Compliance & Strategy, you will monitor federal, state, and local regulations, develop corrective action plans, and help design

• Ability to interpret complex legislation, regulations, and policy requirements and translate into actionable guidance.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proven collaboration with management and diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide agency-wide programmatic support to strengthen compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Coordinate monitoring and audits with multiple HPD offices and units.
• Develop corrective action plans and best practices to mitigate risks.
• Assist in developing agency-wide trainings on lead hazards and healthy homes.
• Monitor regulatory changes and inform stakeholders of implications.
• Support special compliance projects as needed.
