Job summary

Ladders in the Aerospace & Defense space seeks a Lead Hardware Engineer - Remote to steer high-reliability embedded hardware design for defense programs. You will lead complex board and system development, ensuring performance, feasibility and compliance.

Responsibilities include driving design reviews, troubleshooting, testing, and leading hardware development activities. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer needs into robust, manufacturable solutions for DoD

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of DoD embedded systems and hardware design experience (SBC, FPGA, switch, I/O card).
  • Extensive experience in mixed-signal, high-speed digital/analog, low-power/high-current circuits in high-reliability environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to meet customer requirements.
  • Oversee design and development of 3U and 6U VPX boards for high-speed applications.
  • Drive development of custom systems incorporating various hardware elements.
  • Translate customer needs into functional hardware solutions.
  • Evaluate design feasibility and balance performance, feasibility, and compliance.
  • Act as lead on hardware development activities and design reviews.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting to ensure compliance and performance.

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Lead Hardware Engineer - Remote to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.

This role will lead hardware design efforts for high-reliability, defense-focused embedded systems, partnering with multidisciplinary teams to translate customer needs into robust technical solutions. The engineer will oversee complex board and system development, balancing performance, feasibility, and compliance in a fast-paced environment. The position also involves driving design reviews, troubleshooting, and testing to ensure hardware solutions meet demanding operational requirements.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $108,900 – $150,000 annually

Responsibilities
