Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced hardware engineer to design high-speed digital boards (>1 GHz) and perform full lifecycle verification from schematic capture to board bring-up in a lab environment.

The role requires proficiency with Altium, FPGA toolchains (Vivado/Quartus), and an understanding of EMC and signal integrity. Collaboration with a space-industry standards-focused team is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing high-speed digital boards with signals >1 GHz including DDR, FPGAs, and networking
  • Experience with Altium schematic capture
  • EMC mitigation techniques and testing experience
  • Signal integrity simulation experience
  • Experience with Verilog, VHDL, SystemVerilog, Vitis, and Versal
  • Experience with Xilinx and/or Altera devices (Kintex, Artix, Zynq, Cyclone V/SoC, Stratix, Arria)
  • Experience with Vivado and/or Quartus
  • Schematic capture experience with OrCAD, DxDesigner, or Altium
  • Power integrity simulation experience is a plus
  • FPGA design and toolset experience is a plus
  • Experience bringing up circuit boards
  • Experience with lab equipment and test execution/reporting
  • Debugging and problem-solving skills for root-cause analysis
  • Knowledge of space-industry verification methodologies and standards

Responsibilities

  • Design high-speed digital boards with signals >1 GHz
  • Perform schematic capture using Altium (and possibly OrCAD/DxDesigner)
  • Apply EMC mitigation techniques and conduct EMC testing
  • Perform signal integrity simulations
  • Bring up circuit boards in lab environments
  • Use laboratory equipment (power supplies, function generators, DMMs, scopes, probes)
  • Execute tests including generating test cases and reporting results
  • Debug hardware issues and provide root-cause analysis
  • Apply verification methodologies and space-industry standards
