Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Lead Hardware Design Engineer in the Richmond area to drive architecture and production of mixed-signal hardware. You will lead cross-functional teams in firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing, ensuring safe, reliable designs that meet program goals.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in hardware design, strong analog/digital know-how, and hands-on experience with FPGA, MCUs, PCB layout, and SI/PI analyses.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hardware design and development experience.
• Experience with analog and digital circuit design.
• Experience with FPGA, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
• Hands-on experience with mixed-signal systems and sensor interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of power supplies, signal conditioning, ADC/DAC, and filters.
• Experience with PCB design/review using Altium.
• Knowledge of communication protocols: SPI, I2C, CAN, UART, USB, Ethernet.
• Experience with signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis.
• Familiarity with SPICE/PSPICE simulations and hardware verification.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
• Experience with EMI/EMC, environmental testing, DFMEA, and reliability analysis.

Responsibilities
