Baystate Health in Springfield, MA is seeking a Lead Guest Service Ambassador to join our patient-centered dining team at Baystate Medical Center. This key role supports daily cafeteria operations, ensures food safety, and maintains exceptional service for patients, visitors, and staff.

You will supervise service staff, coordinate schedules, assist with training, handle cash reconciliations, and uphold PPE and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED/HiSET required.
• ServSafe certification required.
• 1–3 years of leadership experience preferred.
• Flexible schedule including early mornings, weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily cafeteria, kitchen, and patient meal service operations with a customer-first focus.
• Ensure food safety and proper holding temperatures; enforce PPE usage.
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, and coordinating sick time with manager.
• Process cash reconciliations and operate the Kronos system as needed.
• Support training of new staff and maintain cleanliness and presentation.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

• Team oriented

SCHEDULE

• Full-time, 40 hours/week
• Flexible/As needed between 6am-8pm, 8 hour shifts, rotating weekends and holidays required.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supports supervisor with the day-to-day operation of cafeteria, kitchen, and patient meal service areas, maintaining a customer-first focus, cleanliness, and product presentation. Performs opening and closing duties as assigned, following checklist.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues involving food products. Assure employee compliance with safe food handling procedures. Monitors food product holding temperatures.
• Supports departmental policies and procedures
• Participates in training new staff
• Assist with coordinating sick time, vacation time, and various schedule changes with the manager. Reports staffing concerns/scheduling/Kronos discrepancies to supervisor
• Through the electronic work order system, identifies equipment needing repair and places work orders.
• Cash reconciliations in all operations, coin orders, fast cash, and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Ensures proper wearing and usage of PPE; both masks, single-use gloves, and hair restraints are appropriately used and worn.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to work a highly flexible work schedule required.
• High School Diploma, GED, or HiSet required.
• ServSafe certification required.
• 1-3 years of demonstrated leadership experience preferred.

Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.
