Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Waukesha County in Wauwatosa, WI is seeking an enthusiastic Instructor Trainer to lead the development and delivery of high-quality training experiences for current group exercise instructors. Under the direction of the Fitness Director, this part-time role ensures instructors are prepared, certified, and confident in leading safe, engaging classes.

This position offers flexibility to include some nights and weekends based on training needs and class schedules.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Proven track record of high-quality performance and member engagement.
Prior experience leading instructor training, workshops, or mentoring is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Train and mentor current instructors in approved YMCA formats and/or nationally recognized programs.
Collaborate with Fitness Director and/or Group Exercise Coordinator to evaluate instructor performance and provide constructive feedback.
Serve as a subject matter expert in assigned class formats (e.g. cycling, HIIT, yoga, strength, aqua fitness).
Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and continuing education opportunities related to group fitness.
Foster a positive, professional learning environment that reflects YMCA values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Promote instructor engagement and growth through encouragement, accountability, and ongoing support.
