East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Groundskeeper Supervisor to lead a team responsible for campus grounds, landscape construction, athletic field prep, and snow removal operations.

The role combines a landscaping background with equipment and vehicle maintenance knowledge, supervising staff and coordinating tasks to keep campus grounds safe and well-kept year-round. Strong communication and team leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience operating and maintaining single-chassis trucks between 17,000 and 32,000 pounds and/or related equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and ground maintenance machinery in varied weather/terrain.
• Physically demanding work including lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; maintain relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
• Ability to assign and perform snow removal and emergency response duties as assigned.
• Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance and minor repairs for equipment and vehicles.
• Able to read, write, and comprehend English; follow verbal instructions.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.

Job description

As the Groundskeeper Supervisor, you will need to think diligently planning and executing skilled work to maintain campus grounds, landscape construction, athletic field preparation, and snow removal operations. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Director to ensure campus layout is safe for the campus community during each season. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your landscaping background and strong working knowledge of equipment & vehicle maintenance all while skillfully operating single-chassis trucks or large-scale vehicles. To be successful in this role, you must possess experience in manicuring grounds, supervisory experience, and strong communication skills.

Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule to work from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Groundskeeper Supervisor. When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.

What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

• Supervises four (4)equipment operators, seven (7) groundskeepers and five (5) to ten (10) studentsummer workers.
• Supervision of employees includes ensuring staff is assignedwork, reviews leave requests and performs annual reviews.
  
• Operatesingle-chassis trucks with a gross vehicle weight between 17,000 and 32,000pounds to transport materials, supplies, and equipment to and from campusmaintenance and construction sites.
  
• Performsand directs staff regarding snow removal and ice control operations, includingplowing, salting, cindering, and related winter weather response duties.
  
• Pullswork orders, schedules assignments and closes work orders accordingly.
  
• Maintainsa pesticide license and applies pesticides as needed.
• Perform manual labor and grounds maintenanceactivities when not operating equipment.
• Plan(layout and procuring), plant, maintain, and care for flowers, shrubs, grassseed, sod, and other landscape materials.
• Prepareand maintain athletic and recreational fields by lining fields, mowing,fertilizing, spraying, and performing other related turf maintenance dutiesnecessary for competitions and campus activities.
• Conductroutine preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment andvehicles, including cleaning, servicing, and maintaining operational records.
  

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

• Validdriver’s license without restrictions.
  
• Six(6) months of experience operating and maintaining single-chassis trucks with agross vehicle weight between 17,000 and 32,000 pounds and/or construction andmaintenance equipment such as rollers, tractor-maintainers, excavators,front-loaders, hi-lifts, and ground maintenance equipment; or an equivalentcombination of experience and training.
  
• Abilityto safely operate heavy equipment, ground maintenance machinery, and motorvehicles in a variety of weather and terrain conditions.
  
• Perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, pushing,pulling, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
  
• Understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  
• Abilityto work independently while also functioning effectively within a teamenvironment.
  
• Maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, andthe public.
  
• Abilityto assign and perform snow removal and emergency response duties as assigned.
  
• Basicknowledge of preventive maintenance and minor repair procedures for equipmentand vehicles.
  
• Abilityto work outdoors in varying seasonal and environmental conditions, includingexposure to noise, dust, fumes, and inclement weather.
• Maintaina pesticide license.
• Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
