Job summary

East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Groundskeeper Supervisor to lead a team responsible for campus grounds, landscape construction, athletic field prep, and snow removal operations.

The role combines a landscaping background with equipment and vehicle maintenance knowledge, supervising staff and coordinating tasks to keep campus grounds safe and well-kept year-round. Strong communication and team leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience operating and maintaining single-chassis trucks between 17,000 and 32,000 pounds and/or related equipment; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and ground maintenance machinery in varied weather/terrain.
• Physically demanding work including lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently and in a team; maintain relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
• Ability to assign and perform snow removal and emergency response duties as assigned.
• Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance and minor repairs for equipment and vehicles.
• Able to read, write, and comprehend English; follow verbal instructions.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.

Responsibilities

• Supervises four equipment operators, seven groundskeepers, and five to ten student summer workers.
• Manages staff assignments, reviews leave requests, and conducts annual reviews.
• Operates trucks and transports materials to campus maintenance and construction sites.
• Directs snow removal, ice control, and winter weather response duties.
• Pulls work orders, schedules assignments, and closes work orders.
• Maintains pesticide license and applies pesticides as needed.
• Performs manual labor and grounds maintenance when not operating equipment.
• Plans layouts and procurement of flowers, shrubs, sod, and other landscape materials.
• Maintains athletic and recreational fields through lining, mowing, fertilizing, spraying, and turf duties.
