As the Facilities Operations Supervisor, you will need to think creatively and be comfortable overseeing all electrical system repairs and maintenance for campus buildings. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Manager of Energy and Mechanical Services creating proposals to ensure the upkeep of various electrical machinery. It is essential in this position that the candidate delivers excellent supervision to their team of dedicated employees from various journey-level trades. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your extensive electrical maintenance background and working experience, interpreting and executing blueprint plans for projects. In addition, this role requires the skilled implementation of comprehensive knowledge on national electrical best practices for campus services. To be successful in this role, the person must be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Facilities Operations Supervisor. What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)
- Plans, supervises, schedules, andassigns work to various skilled tradesmen and sub-journeyman level employeesperforming building maintenance and repair maintenance work.
- Evaluates, prioritizes, andassigns construction, renovation, installation, repair, and maintenance workorders.
- Ensures all assignments arecompleted in compliance with trades methods, efficiency standards,manufacturing guidelines, regulations, codes, and project objectives.
- Responsible for the repair and replacement ofelectrical motors, controllers, switchboard panels, lights, power circuits, andelectrical generators.
- Perform skilled tasks per standardpractices of the electrical trade and the National Electrical Code.
- Plan and lay-out the installationof conduits for power, lighting, signal, and fire alarm wires.
- Make estimates of time andmaterial, lay-outs, plans, and schedules work for the electricians and Maintenance Repairmen.
- Provides training and on-the-jobguidance and assistance on the proper methods, techniques, tools, equipment,and safety precautions.
- Makes inspections of buildings andgrounds to determine and estimate costs of repairs and maintenance needed.
- Reads blueprints andspecifications for new construction or renovation projects and various maintenancejobs; estimates materials and labor needed.
- Comply with hazard and safetyprecautions of the electrical trade, work with high voltage, and ensuresubordinates follow proper safety precautions.
What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five years of experience at thejourney level divided among a minimum of two of the building, electrical, ortelephone, data trades at the supervisory level, or such training as may havebeen gained through graduation from high school or vocational school.
- Any equivalent combination ofexperience and training. List functional requirements such as degrees, type ofwork experience, certifications.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Able to read, write, and comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.
- Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the standardpractices, processes, equipment, tools, and materials involved in tradesrelated to electrical trade and general building maintenance.
- Knowledge of occupational hazardsand safety precautions of building maintenance and new construction orrenovation work.
- Ability to use, maintain, and carefor the tools and equipment employed in building maintenance and repair work.
- Knowledge of National ElectricCode.
- Capability to plan, assign,supervise, and evaluate the work of a varied group of skilled and semi-skilledworkers.
- Ability to train and instructstaff on safety precautions and to provide guidance on the proper methods andtechniques for accomplishing skilled trades and building maintenance work.
- Knowledge to make and work fromsketches or plans for improvement or alteration of buildings and equipment andto interpret blueprints and sketches
- Ability to make accurate estimatesof time and materials required for repair and maintenance work.
- Experience preparing and maintaining appropriate records and reports.
- Thorough knowledge of methods,materials, tools, and practices of the electrical, telephone, and Data trades.
