Job summary

Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is seeking a Lead Groundskeeper to maintain all grounds, facilities, and equipment in a safe, efficient manner. You will supervise the grounds crew and follow directions from the Director of Maintenance to uphold standards and local regulations.

The position offers full-time hours, an 8-hour day shift with weekend rotation, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, 401K, and paid leave. Prior groundskeeping and leadership experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift loads over 50 lbs and perform physical labor.
• Must be able to operate and supervise yard equipment safely.
• Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and drive service vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Maintain yard equipment and perform routine maintenance and tune-ups.

Good Samaritan Home of Quincy is currently seeking a Lead Groundskeeper to join our growing team!

Job Summary: The primary purpose of your position is to maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner and supervise employees on the grounds crew to ensure a successful maintenance program is maintained at all times in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Director of Maintenance.

Pay Range: $19.57 - $21.57 per hour

Schedule: Full Time 8-hour day shift with weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all yard equipment so that it operates efficiently and safely. This includes minor tune-ups of equipment, oil change, blade sharpening, cleaning of equipment, etc. In addition, all shields must be in place and all protective equipment used.
• Perform routine ground maintenance.
• Perform snow removal. This includes calling in other employees as needed.
• Mowing and trimming grass, mulch and bag leaves, and remove yard waste throughout the campus. This includes removing weeds where appropriate.
• Trim and prune bushes, trees, and shrubs and makes sure all dead branches are removed.
• Spray for weeds and insects as directed and makes sure all safety guidelines are followed. Report to the Maintenance Director any plants on campus that appear to be suffering insect and/or disease damage.
• Fertilize, water, and landscape as directed.
• Supervise employees that are assigned to your leadership.
• Receive and follow maintenance instructions from Director of Maintenance in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Respond to building and/or cottage fire alarm system and take appropriate action when the fire alarm system sounds. Notify the supervisor in case of emergency.
• Perform routine maintenance on the facility which includes but is not limited to light plumbing, light electrical, painting, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed by the Maintenance Director.
• Keep all floors and carpets in a safe and sanitary condition in accordance with facility policies.
• Responsible for delivering specimens to the hospital as requested by the Nursing Department.
• Keep service vehicles clean and well maintained at all times.
• Dispose all garbage as needed and/or otherwise directed by the supervisor.
• Dispose all hazardous materials in a safe and sanitary manner in accordance with the facility's established policies and procedures.
• Maintain building and campus security including assistance as needed with any unauthorized person in the facility.
• Perform all other maintenance tasks as instructed by the Maintenance Director.
• Must follow departmental safety policies and any pertinent OSHA guidelines when performing maintenance services.
• Follow Universal Standards and Infection Control practices when performing maintenance duties using protective clothing and devices when indicated by facility policy.

Qualifications

• Must be 25 years old with at least a high school diploma or a GED and/or experience commensurate with the position being offered.
• Must be able to work harmoniously with residents and members of the staff.
• Must be able to lift loads in excess of 50 lbs. and do hard physical labor including lifting, pulling, stooping, bending, twisting, furniture moving, snow shoveling, and the like.
• Must be able to work from a ladder or on roofs as the job requires.
• Must possess a current driver's license and meet all Illinois and GSH facility requirements for transporting residents and driving service vehicles.
• Must have motor vehicle record showing proof of qualifications to drive service vehicles.
