Job summary

Crescent Wood is seeking a reliable Groundskeeper/Driver to maintain outdoor areas and provide driving support as needed for our property in the Florida community. The role covers landscaping, safety checks, and routine maintenance to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents and staff.

The position requires a valid driver's license, basic maintenance tasks, and strong communication with residents. Flexibility for occasional weekend work and events is expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One year of work experience preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license with clean driving record required.
  • Ability to read and write in English; good communication with residents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain grounds, landscaping, and outdoor areas (trimming, weeding, leaf removal, pressure washing, gutters, etc.).
  • Remove trash and debris from outdoor areas.
  • Monitor grounds for safety hazards and address issues promptly.
  • Assist with seasonal projects such as storm cleanup or special events.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good working condition; assist with driving duties as needed.
  • Maintain pool and outdoor lighting; ensure community signage is clean and visible.
  • Assist with painting and HVAC roof top maintenance as required.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments and follow facility safety plans.
  • Provide positive resident relations and high-quality service to residents and the public.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Groundskeeper / Driver to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of our property while also providing driving support as needed. This role combines outdoor grounds maintenance with safe and timely transportation duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

The following duties are normal for this position. This list is not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Maintain grounds, landscaping, and outdoor areas (trimming, weeding, leaf removal, pressure washing, gutters, etc.)
  • Remove trash and debris from outdoor areas
  • Monitor grounds for safety hazards and report or address issues promptly
  • Assist with seasonal projects such as, storm cleanup, or special events
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good working condition
  • Maintain pool
  • Maintain outdoor lighting, community signage,
  • Assist with painting
  • HVAC Roof Top Maintenance
  • Trash collection
  • Demonstrate positive resident relations and facility quality care and service standards to residents, families, and the general public.
  • Assist with driving schedule when needed
  • Maintain company-owned vehicles to keep them in safe, clean and efficient working order. Inform Director of Lifestyles of any maintenance issues concerning the vehicles.
  • Maintain vehicle interior in clean orderly fashion during and following usage.
  • Remain flexible for unscheduled emergency transportation.
  • Fuel vehicle as needed and provide gas receipts to the Director of Lifestyles or appropriate Lifestyles staff for processing.
  • Coordinate activities with other departments as needed.
  • Follow facility policies and procedures to include emergency, fire and disaster plans.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Attend in-service classes and staff meetings.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • The position falls under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance but is expected to perform independently and exercise good judgment. The position is not required to supervise or direct other associates.

Qualifications : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Educational Requirements and Experience :

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • One (1) year of work experience required.
  • Valid state driver’s license with safe driving record required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to read and write, follow written and oral instructions and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion. Ability to perform duties with consideration for residents’ rights at all times and demonstrate integrity and discretion in the care of residents and in handling their health information. Excellent interpersonal skills.
Technical Skills :

Ability to safely operate facility tools and vehicles in accordance with facility policies and procedures, as well as all state and federal regulations. Knowledge of fire, missing persons and other safety and emergency procedures and vehicle maintenance preferred.

Physical Requirements :
  • On a daily basis, throughout the workday: Must be capable of driving, sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, turning, bending, stooping, crouching and kneeling, reaching over the head, grasping with both hands, and fine manipulation. Must physically be able to lift up to 15 pounds unassisted. Must have normal eyesight or use corrective lenses to attain normal eyesight. Must have three-dimensional vision and ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are. Must be able to recognize colors. Must be able to hear and distinguish between normal tones and be able to perceive the nature of sounds. Must be able to exchange ideas by means of the spoken word as well as engage in activities to convey detailed or spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, and/or quickly. Must have normal sense of touch and smell.

Environmental Adaptability and Safety :

  • Works in well-lighted, well ventilated building. Must be able to tolerate occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, etc., as well as some noise. When outside, must be able to tolerate exposure to weather, fluctuations in temperature (hot, cold), wet and/or humid conditions. Subject to frequent interruptions. Subject to hostile or emotionally upset individuals. Must be willing to work, when necessary, beyond normal working hours and on weekends, as well as in other positions as necessary. The position requires limited exposure to risk to physical and/or mental health and safety (i.e., physical assault, communicable disease, etc).
