Job summary

Bay State Milling Company is seeking a Production Supervisor in Sterling, CO. This role will plan, prepare, and process grains and seeds to meet customer and manufacturing requirements, while overseeing line operations and minor maintenance.

You will work closely with customer service, sales, and QA to verify materials, ensure accuracy of production reports, and maintain high safety, quality, and teamwork standards.

Qualifications

• Proficient in English speaking, reading, and writing.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
• Ability to accurately record data onto documents and keep production records.
• Strong mechanical background, including PLCs and pneumatic systems.
• At least two years’ experience in flour/grain/seed milling (or food manufacturing).
• Strong team-building/leadership skills and excellent communication skills.
• Experience with food audits.

Responsibilities

• Obtain, plan, and prepare grains/seeds for processing per requirements.
• Operate equipment and maintain lines, including minor maintenance and machine adjustment.
• Ensure packaging is completed correctly, including proper weight and batch numbers.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality, and teamwork as a Production Supervisor.
• Verify accuracy of raw materials being processed, including testing, inventory, and customer requirements.
• Work with customer service, sales, and QA to verify raw materials.
• Follow GMPs, SOPs, and plant safety rules.
• Prepare machines for operation by making necessary adjustments.
• Ensure processing/production lines operate at maximum efficiency.
• Select proper packaging material and ensure it is in good condition.
• Follow food safety requirements.
• Verify machine operator’s production report accuracy.
• Maintain cleanliness of areas during and after production.
• Follow production formulas in Dynamics AX and adjust as needed.
• Communicate any issues or suggestions to improve facility operations.
• Work on CI projects and/or lead new projects.
• Facilitate and conduct safety, QA, and other training sessions.
• Train new operators on all aspects of the job, ensuring safety and productivity.
• Build an effective team on assigned shifts in a mixed labor environment.
• Perform other duties or tasks as needed.
• Possibly rotate supervisory duties between 1st and 2nd shift.
