Job summary

Coconino County Sheriff's Office is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to perform advanced accounting, payroll support, and financial reporting duties under limited supervision. You will handle financial transactions, account reconciliations, journal entries, and budget verification, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• Four years of increasingly responsible accounting experience or equivalent
• Ideal candidate will have governmental accounting experience and grant experience
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Leads accounting support activities including review and verification of accounting documentation
• Responsible for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, and/or special districts
• Prepares, maintains, and reconciles accounting, financial and other departmental records and accounts
• Audits projected revenues and expenditures
• Verifies transactions and reconciles discrepancies
• Responds to information requests related to assigned area
• Interacts with staff, other agencies and the public to resolve complex accounting issues
• Trains less experienced staff in clerical accounting activities
• Provides support for external audits/auditors
• May handle cash collections and travel claims
• May prepare invoices
• May supervise bookkeeping staff or temporary employees
