Job summary

Coconino County is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support financial operations under limited supervision. The role focuses on advanced accounting, payroll, reconciliations, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.

You will prepare journal entries, assist with audits, manage accounts payable/receivable, and train junior staff while interacting with other agencies and the public.

Qualifications

• Four years of increasingly responsible accounting experience; OR,
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Economics or Business and three years of increasingly responsible accounting experience; OR,
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics or Business and two years of increasingly responsible accounting experience; OR,
• Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Leads accounting support activities including verification of accounting documentation for accuracy and adherence to policies.
• Handles payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, and/or special districts accounting support.
• Prepares, maintains, and reconciles accounting, financial and department records and accounts.
• Audits projected revenues and expenditures and verifies transactions.
• Interacts with employees, other agencies and the public to resolve accounting issues.
