Job summary

Aspire NorCal is seeking a Lead General Ledger (GL) Accountant to own end-to-end GL responsibilities including investments, bonds, fixed assets, WIP, prepaid expenses, leases, and AP accruals. You will partner with the CFO, Controller, and school teams to implement GAAP-aligned processes.

Reporting to the Controller, this role focuses on strong internal controls, audit readiness, and scalable financial operations across Aspire NorCal and existing LA services under SLA, with a commitment to

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience as a Staff or Senior Accountant.
• Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with multiple accounting software systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform full accounting responsibilities for functional areas: journal entries, reconciliations, and year-end schedules.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and regulatory adherence.
• Monitor bond and banking covenant compliance; report to agencies/banking partners.
• Maintain accounting policies and internal controls; safeguard assets.
• Coordinate annual financial audits with auditors.
• Prepare filings for government regulatory agencies (property tax, sales/use).
• Collaborate with Finance leadership to improve processes and systems.
