Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation seeks a Chief Geotechnical Engineer to lead the geotechnical department at the Fort Knox Mine open pit. This role reports to the Technical Services Manager and provides support across geotechnical engineering functions to ensure safe, efficient mine operations.

Responsibilities include developing site geotechnical programs, coordinating monitoring systems, advising on production and design, and mentoring staff while maintaining compliance with GCMP and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Geology required.
• 7–12 years mining experience in large-scale open-pit operations.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical monitoring and open-pit design.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement geotechnical design criteria for safe, efficient mine operations.
• Plan and manage geotechnical and hydrology monitoring systems.
• Advise on production, drill, blast, dewatering, and mine design.
• Supervise junior staff and coordinate with contractors and consultants.
• Prepare monthly geotechnical and project management summaries.
