  • 7+ years of experience working on gas/diesel equipment.

Job Summary

The Lead Diesel Technician will have the opportunity to use exceptional skills and knowledge to support overall business goals while mentoring and developing other technicians/mechanics. Will work very closely with the management team to provide insight on overall shop operations.

Lead Diesel Technician Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced diagnostic computer equipment/software in the analysis, diagnosis, repair of gasoline and diesel engines and their related subsystems/components.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Update supervisor and computer systems on work performed.
  • Follow procedures related to obtaining parts for jobs assigned.
  • Assure warranty procedures are followed.
  • Participate and complete Manufacturing training to obtain certifications.

Lead Diesel Technician Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The Lead Diesel Technician must have the ability to:

  • Work on trucks, climbing into and out of, crawling under to make repairs.
  • Work on emissions systems.
  • Demonstrate proficient wiring knowledge.
  • Work safely and promote safety in the workplace.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and electronic repair and troubleshooting manuals.
  • Use PC to update work order status and explain maintenance and repairs.
  • Explain verbally and in written form the status of work orders.
  • Keep management aware of any concerns in the shop.
  • Provide dependable/consistent results.

Lead Diesel Technician Requirements:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical experience.
  • 2+ years of diagnostic experience and familiarity with OEM software.
  • 7+ years of experience working on gas/diesel equipment.
  • Refrigeration unit experience a plus.
  • CDL B, or willingness to obtain.
  • Diesel ASE Certifications preferred. Our goal would be to have this individual fully certified.
  • For Pennsylvania Locations – PA State Inspection License.
