Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer to own the NBA platform's orchestration and state machine, built in Node.js/TypeScript on Temporal, driving durable workflows from decision to delivery across channels.

You will lead a small team, contribute code, and set delivery guarantees with idempotent patterns, Kafka event flows, and Transactional Outbox, ensuring reliable action delivery at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or relevant area.
• 6+ years of full stack software engineering experience, with 1–2 years in tech-lead roles.
• Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend experience building production services.
• Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration platforms (Temporal preferred).
• Strong distributed systems fundamentals (event-driven, retries, idempotency).
• Experience designing Kafka producers/consumers in production.
• Experience with Transactional Outbox and delivery patterns.
• Leadership experience guiding a small pod.
• Cloud-native systems on Azure or equivalent; Kubernetes and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Pod delivery — own end-to-end delivery for orchestration pod.
• Workflow orchestration — design durable, long-running workflows on Temporal.
• Action delivery architecture — end-to-end pipeline from decision publication to delivery.
• Activation integrations — integrate with Adobe Experience Platform and Kafka.
• Hands-on development — contribute code alongside the team.
• Technical decisions — architecture, state machines, retries, idempotency, APIs.
• Distributed systems reliability — ensure exactly-once delivery semantics.
• Observability and operations — monitoring, tracing, alerts, visibility.
• Team leadership — mentor engineers, code reviews, unblock team.
• Cross-team coordination — surface dependencies and risks early.
