Job summary

American Water is seeking a Lead Financial Analyst in FP&A to develop and optimize financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes. You will partner with State Finance Leadership, Operations, and Regulatory Services to drive growth and governance.

The role requires advanced financial modeling, data analysis, and the ability to communicate results to executives. Strong Excel/PowerPoint skills and US GAAP knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or closely related field.
• MBA/CPA/CFA or advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 6–8 years of FP&A experience.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and forecasting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex financial models to inform forecasts and strategic plans.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver accurate budgets and analyses.
• Explain variances and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
• Prepare financial estimates and support governance standards for planning processes.
• Support ad hoc analyses and senior management reporting.
