Job summary

Joby Aviation seeks an experienced Base Supervisor to lead maintenance for the JAI30 flight test program. You will ensure airworthiness, supervise on-site teams, and coordinate with project management to enable safe, efficient flight test operations.

Travel up to 50% domestically and internationally, interpret engineering drawings, maintain documentation per FAA standards, and help develop maintenance processes for scalable flight test activity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; two+ years mechanical/electrical experience.
• Valid FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required.
• 5+ years in maintenance/inspection on aircraft.
• Ability to work with electro-mechanical devices, high voltage systems, electronics; training provided.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical docs.
• General working knowledge of hand tools and precision measuring equipment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team and cross-functional work.
• Willingness to travel 50% domestically and internationally; valid passport.

Responsibilities

• Maintain airworthiness of JAI30 aircraft and approve return-to-service during flight tests.
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance per manuals.
• Conduct inspections per procedures.
• Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support flight tests.
• Replace airframe, powerplant and electrical components per procedures.
• Document maintenance per FAA and company standards.
• Support ground ops, launch/recovery, and post-flight activities.
• Participate in ATP tests and contribute to maintenance manuals.
