Job summary

Joby is seeking a Flight Test Mechanic to support experimental maintenance and ground operations for our flight test fleet. You will perform hands-on maintenance, inspections, and component replacements under strict procedures with a focus on airworthiness and safety.

Based in Yuma, AZ, this role requires frequent domestic and international travel to active flight test sites and collaboration with engineering and flight operations teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate required.
• 5+ years hands-on aircraft maintenance/inspection experience.
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, schematics, docs.
• Proficient with standard hand tools and precision measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on experimental flight test aircraft in accordance with procedures, drawings, and manuals.
• Conduct detailed pre-flight, post-flight, and periodic inspections to ensure safety and readiness.
• Replace advanced airframe, powerplant, and high-voltage components.
• Perform launch/recovery operations and ground handling; serve as ground observer.
• Participate in Acceptance Test Procedures per company guidelines.
• Maintain maintenance logs and documentation per FAA and company procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot ground support equipment.
• Provide feedback to engineering to improve manuals and docs.
• Work safely following operating procedures and aviation regulations.
