Job summary

Joby Aviation seeks a Senior Flight Test Technical Program Manager to own the long-range strategy and cross-program orchestration for flight test campaigns through certification. You will align fleet-level test plans with the PMO, lead risk and schedule reporting, and mentor a lean cross-functional team of engineers and technicians.

You will partner with Flight Test leadership, Safety, Certification, and design engineering to ensure test objectives map to FAA requirements, while balancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Aerospace Engineering or a related technical field
• 8+ years of experience in development or certification flight test in large OEM or startup/R&D aerospace
• Deep understanding of flight test operations and certification pathways (Part 23/27/25)
• Experience establishing long-range flight test schedules and fleet resource strategy
• Experience owning a flight test program's Integrated Master Schedule strategy
• Experience partnering with a Program Management Office and cross-functional Technical Program Managers
• Strong leadership and communication skills to lead both senior and junior engineers
• Ability to distill complex problems into executive-level decisions in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Own the long-range program strategy for the flight test fleet through certification
• Set the Integrated Master Schedule strategy across flight test aircraft and assets
• Lead synthesis of fleet-level risk and prioritization at the OEM level
• Deliver executive-level risk and schedule briefings to leadership and PMO
• Own strategic planning for all flight test operations
• Define and optimize the long-term critical path for flight test contributions to milestones
• Represent Flight Test in fleet allocation and utilization strategy
• Drive test campaigns from requirements definition through execution
• Interface between Flight Test Engineering and design/ safety/certification teams
• Represent flight test strategy in program-level leadership reviews
• Foster a culture supporting junior team members in certification work
