Job summary

Cemex US seeks a Lead Mechanic in Foley, AL to maintain and repair mobile equipment in company shops and on roadways, maximizing equipment availability through proactive maintenance programs and strong coordination with Terminal Operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred) with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Must have own tools up to 1 inch.
• English reading/writing/communication required.
• Bilingual a plus; Spanish desired.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical problems, perform mechanical repairs on equipment (trailers, Moffetts, tires, brakes, suspension).
• Inspect and operate equipment to diagnose defects.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic/electrical systems on trucks and trailers.
• Remove components for repair or replacement (injectors, starters, water pumps, radiators, brakes, electrical systems).
• Perform routine preventative maintenance: lubrication and oil changes.
• Brake inspections/adjustments following DOT requirements.
• Create work orders and purchase requisitions for repairs and services.
• Input daily repair reports into tracking software.
• Coordinate to review Pre-Trip truck inspections.
• Use hand and power tools, cutting torches, welding equipment.
• Order parts and drive to pick up parts in company trucks.
• Operate fixed and mobile equipment; assist in fixed equipment maintenance if needed.
• Adhere to CEMEX and OSHA rules; wear PPE.
• Coordinate priorities with Terminal Management and Transport Fleet Maintenance.
• Monitor shop inventory and tools; communicate issues and solutions.
• Assist in training new hires on job requirements and safety culture.
