Job summary

Cemex US in Decatur, Alabama is seeking a Lead Mechanic responsible for maintaining a range of mobile equipment both in shop and on public roadways. You will focus on maximizing equipment availability through proactive repairs, preventative maintenance, and strong collaboration with Terminal Operations.

The role requires hands-on diagnostic skills, adherence to DOT requirements, safety discipline, and leadership to mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant mechanic experience.
• Own tools up to 1 ¼”.
• English reading/writing ability.
• Professional demeanor and business acumen.
• Willingness to lead by example and motivate teammates.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical problems and perform mechanical repairs on trailers, Moffetts, tires, brakes, and suspension.
• Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose defects and ensure safety.
• Create work orders and process parts requisitions for repairs and services.
• Input repair reports into a tracking software and review Pre-Trip inspections.
• Coordinate with management to determine maintenance priorities and ensure DOT compliance.
