Job summary

Pinellas County is seeking a Fleet Mechanic 3 (Heavy Trucks) at 9685 Ulmerton Rd., Largo, FL to maintain and repair a wide range of heavy equipment and trucks. You will diagnose engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and perform repairs using specialized tools.

The role requires 5+ years journeyman experience, ASE certifications, and a Florida CDL Class A within 1 year. The county offers competitive benefits, retirement options, and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years journeyman level experience in maintenance/repair of heavy equipment or equivalent
• Certification path: CDL and ASE certs within 1 year of hire
• ASE brakes and suspension & steering within 1 year of hire
• Mobile Air Conditioning/ASE HVAC certs within 1 year of hire
• Florida Commercial Driver’s License Class A within 1 year of employment
• Willingness to work varied schedules including emergencies

Responsibilities

• Diagnosis/repair of engine, fuel system, drive train, steering, brakes, and suspension on heavy equipment and related machinery
• Diagnosis/repair of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic systems on heavy equipment
• Use of precision diagnostic tools and measuring devices for diagnostics and repair
• Diagnosis and repair of air conditioning systems
• Electronic and engine diagnosis using diagnostic equipment
• Programming electronic components in equipment
• Performs related work as assigned
