Job summary

The City of Largo is seeking a skilled Fleet Technician to maintain and repair gasoline, hybrid, EV, and diesel vehicles at the Public Works Fleet Service Garage. You will diagnose issues with scanners and laptops, perform engine, transmission, brake, and wiring repairs, and read schematics to complete complex electrical work.

Team collaboration is essential as you support leadership, safety practices, and inventory control while responding to road calls as needed.

Qualifications

• Trade School or three (3) years’ experience as an automotive mechanic; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Considerable knowledge of automotive systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, electrical systems, and emergency lighting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair gasoline, hybrid, electric (EV), and light-duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose vehicles with electronic test equipment and perform necessary repairs.
• Read and comprehend repair/wiring schematics and perform component replacement.
• Order parts and manage inventory following City policy; respond to road calls when required.
