Interstate Waste Services, Inc. is seeking a Level B Fleet Mechanic/Technician to diagnose and repair diesel and heavy equipment, including refuse trucks and trailers.

You will support road calls across the NYC tri-state area and mentor Level C technicians to ensure high uptime and DOT compliance. Requires 3–5+ years in diesel/heavy equipment, HS diploma or GED, and CDL Class B with air brake endorsement preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5+ years hands-on diesel/heavy equipment experience.
• CDL Class B with air brake endorsement strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read OEM manuals and wiring diagrams.
• Experience in refuse/solid waste or urban fleet preferred.

Responsabilités

• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines and drive systems.
• Maintain DOT-compliant inspections and PMs.
• Interpret DVIR/eDVIR defects and document repairs.
• Respond to road calls across the NYC tri-state area; arrange towing as needed.
• Mentor Level C technicians and document work orders.
