Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in Illinois to lead a shop of technicians responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs on trucks, containers, and other heavy equipment. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, and timely completion of work.

The supervisor coordinates scheduling, provides coaching, conducts performance evaluations, and enforces compliance with federal and state regulations. System knowledge and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
ASE Certification must be current.
ASE T2 Diesel Engine certification preferred.
T3 Drive, T4 Brake, T5 Suspension and Steering, T6 Electrical/Electronic, T7 HVAC certifications beneficial.

Responsibilities

Supervise a technician team to ensure safe, efficient, timely repairs.
Monitor performance and redirect activities to improve efficiency.
Report to management and recommend improvements for processes.
Conduct daily shop huddles, coaching, performance evaluations, and HR-related actions with hiring decisions.
Inspect outside repairs for safety and regulatory compliance and follow up as needed.
Identify training opportunities and address corrective actions with technicians.
Perform quality control inspections and oversee complex diagnostics; road-test vehicles if needed.
Manage inventory and budget; approve expenses within approval limits.
Maintain advanced knowledge of heavy equipment systems and keep records in Dossier software.
