Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a Welding/Field Engineer to lead and maintain global welding programs at the Brownsville, TX site in partnership with NextDecade’s Rio Grande LNG project. The role requires managing welding labs, rod room, PWHT, and quality plans while advising field teams on codes, procedures, and best practices.

The position demands strong communication with design engineers, ability to read complex drawings, and hands-on inspection on a large EPC project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 5–12 years of relevant experience
• Experience in Post Weld Heat Treatment on medium-scale projects essential
• Strong knowledge of design codes and welding standards (ASME, AWS, NFPA, UPC/IBC, SMACNA) and field welding practices

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work activities for Project Field Engineer and Lead Field Welding Engineer
• Implement and maintain Bechtel Field Welding program for all welding operations
• Provide technical assistance to field superintendents and crafts
• Ensure supervision and craft personnel understand applicable codes and project requirements
• Review site Welding, PWHT and NDE subcontractor documentation for accuracy
• Perform Visual and other examination methods per procedures and standards
• Implement Design Automation deliverables
