Job summary

LVI Associates seeks an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead field crews on control, topographic, boundary, construction layout, and utility location surveys, in both field and office settings. You’ll mentor junior staff, manage field schedules, and ensure quality data collection with Trimble equipment.

You’ll perform precise calculations, interpret plans, and represent the firm with stakeholders while upholding safety standards and project timelines in a dynamic Columbus area environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief.
• Experience with Trimble survey equipment and Trimble Business Center preferred.
• Construction layout and/or utility corridor project experience preferred.
• Strong mathematical and trigonometric skills with understanding of survey accuracy and error analysis.
• Proven leadership skills with ability to direct field crews and make independent decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew in completing control, topographic, boundary, construction layout, and utility location surveys.
• Operate Trimble equipment to accurately gather field data and perform field calculations.
• Interpret plans, execute precise construction staking and layout, and maintain field notes.
• Manage survey data, files, and photographs while ensuring safety requirements are met.
• Mentor junior crew members and help manage field schedules and project workloads.
• Represent the organization professionally with clients, property owners, and stakeholders.
