Job summary

Southeastern Surveying and Mapping Corp. seeks an experienced Survey Crew Chief to lead field surveying teams, maintain and operate survey equipment, and ensure accurate data collection for roadway and infrastructure projects.

You will oversee 2–4 person crews, coordinate with project managers, and ensure safety and compliance on varied field sites across Pensacola and nearby regions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of survey experience as Rodman, Instrument Person, or equivalent.
• Must obtain badges/certifications to enter sites (e.g., MOT, School badges, Duke Energy, CSX, DOD, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead field surveying activities and maintain survey equipment.
• Manage 2–4 person field teams for maximum production.
• Complete surveys across FDOT, Mortgage Survey, Construction Layout, etc.
• Research and obtain maps, deeds, CCRs, project control, and other documentation.
• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying instruments to measure distances, elevations, and angles.
• Prepare field notes and drawings for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects.
• Ensure truck has necessary materials and equipment for tasks.
• Report daily progress to Project Manager.
• Train and mentor crew members in surveying techniques.
• Maintain safety and proper PPE at job sites.
