Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a Party Chief- Field Surveys to lead field crews in locating vertical and horizontal control, topographic, boundary and construction stake-out data under a Licensed Land Surveyor.

The role emphasizes accurate data collection and mapping for a variety of projects. The position is field-heavy (about 90% time) and requires experience with GPS, Total Stations, data collectors, and CAD workflows.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years' surveying experience.
• Experience with Total Stations and data collectors (prefer Trimble, TDS, Carlson).
• Able to pass background check and drive.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead field crew in vertical/horizontal control, topographic, boundary, and stake-out surveys.
• Collect and compile field data, notes and photos for project files.
• Coordinate with surveyor/engineer on plan prep and field conditions.
• Operate and troubleshoot surveying instruments and software.
• Perform non-routine assignments and assist with calculations and mapping as needed.
