Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead field surveys and data collection in Indianapolis, IN. The role involves supervising the survey crew, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring accurate boundary and ALTA/NSPS surveys using total stations, GPS, and data collection tools.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years on a land surveying party, knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D, and the ability to mentor junior staff while maintaining client relationships.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• 3+ years of experience on a land surveying party.
• Prior Party Chief experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of survey stakeout procedures and field practices.
• Experience with boundary and ALTA/NSPS surveys is desirable.
• Ability to perform topographic surveys and various field data collection tasks.
• Familiar with total station, GPS, and data collection; adaptability to new tech.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision of the survey field crew, including training and mentoring.
• Coordinate with contractors to deliver survey services.
• Identify property line controls and determine survey approach.
• Collect necessary information and assign tasks to crew for efficient surveys.
• Discuss work with clients as needed and maintain survey records.
• Maintain and inventory survey equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate with management to maximize effort and resources.
