Job summary

Bowman Consulting in Herndon, VA is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead field crews and manage surveying data collection. The role requires supervision of crew, coordination with contractors, and ensuring quality control for boundary and ALTA surveys.

A strong background in AutoCAD/Civil 3D and valid driver's license is essential. The candidate will mentor junior staff, work closely with clients, and maintain records and equipment.

Qualifications

• Three or more (3+) years of experience working on a land surveying party.
• Prior Party Chief experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of construction stakeout procedures and practices.
• Familiar with field procedures for boundary and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
• Current, valid State Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision of the survey field crew and mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate with contractors to deliver survey services.
• Identify property lines and determine survey approach.
• Gather information and assign tasks to crew for efficient data collection.
• Discuss work with clients as needed and maintain clear communication.
• Make calculations and maintain essential records.
• Ensure survey equipment and trucks are properly maintained.
• Communicate with management to optimize efforts and man-hours.
