Job summary

Honeywell is seeking a Lead Field Service Technician to drive commissioning, installation, and optimization of control systems for gas, liquids, and industrial processes. You will lead field service teams at client sites, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency while aligning with sustainability goals.

Based in Charlotte or Raleigh, NC, you will coordinate with electrical and mechanical contractors, manage small projects (<$200K), and deliver training and sign-off per contract. A strong HVAC/control systems background and travel up to 75% are required.

Qualifications

• HVAC knowledge and control systems experience required.
• 3+ years in system integration and software interfaces.
• 3+ years building systems knowledge and ability to read drawings/diagrams.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 75%.
• Associate/Engineering degree preferred; or 3 years of related field work.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning of control systems and start-up activities.
• Install software, checkouts, and fine-tune operations per specs.
• Troubleshoot hardware/software issues; re-engineer as needed.

Job description

As a Lead Field Service Technician here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in delivering advanced separation and purification solutions for gas, liquids, and industrial processes. You will lead field service operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery and operational efficiency while supporting sustainability goals through optimized resource utilization and reduced emissions.

You’ll work out of our Charlotte, NC or Raleigh, NC location.

In this role, you will impact product quality and customer satisfaction by providing expert technical support and leading field service teams to resolve complex issues efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Commissioning Control Systems
• Install pre-engineered software, checkout control systems, start-up and commission systems and fine tune operations as per customer requirements or job specification. Use productivity tools such as wireless commissioning to improve efficiency.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, make changes to meet specification requirements. May involve re-engineering effort or system re-design
• Perform Open systems and/or 3rd party integrations
• Complete technician work under estimated hours and within allocated time frame.
• Be aware of Honeywell’s scope of work and protect financial impact due to changes by supporting and obtaining change orders wherever appropriate.
• Ensure that Configuration Management policy is followed which involves back-up of all changes on an on-going basis during installation and final archiving of Honeywell hardware and software on Honeywell Server (ADEPT)
• Coordination with other trades and Customer/General Contractor/Mechanical Contractor as well as Honeywell engineering
• Coordinate work with other trades and upper tier contractors to accomplish Honeywell’s commissioning task most effectively. Specifically work with electrical contractor and ensure installation is completed per Honeywell’s drawings and guidelines. Manage Honeywell equipment deliveries, storage, handling at site and correct installation by sub contractors.
• Set up and assign work to balancer as required.
• Coordinate with Solution Design Center or local engineer to understand scope, hardware, software, graphics and as-built details
• Be able to manager projects <$200K
• Customer management and sales support activity
• Conduct system functional training as required per contract
• Demonstrate system and obtain sign-off as per contract
• Support sales/Project Manager on surveys, application selection, and layout of potential retrofit opportunities. Support sales and delivery for high end complex integrated/networked solutions specifically for layouts, configuration, system architecture design and be able to present to customer/consultant whenever required.
• Health, Safety and Statutory Compliance
• Carry out hazard and risk assessments for all tasks according to Honeywell policy and regulatory requirements.
• Report near misses, incidents and other opportunities for improvement.
• Administrative responsibilities
• Be responsible for Honeywell’s assets such as tools, proprietary software, and site database.
• Keep documentation and paperwork up-to-date –customer/contractor requests for changes, extra work, overtime, commissioning binder, etc
• Other Requirements
• Security and other clearances as required by customer
• Ability to travel throughout the service area, with occasional overnight stays
• The successful candidate must have a driving record acceptable to Honeywell

MUST HAVE:

• Associate, technical college degree or Bachelor’s in Engineering OR in lieu of degree High School Diploma/GED plus 3 years experience in technically related field work in HVAC
• 3 years experience with building systems. Programming, PC, and general network knowledge.
• 1 year experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet browsers
• 3+ years Experience with system integration, networking and software interfaces
• 3+ years Knowledge of HVAC systems, control systems, mechanical system operation and building facilities. (For HVAC TECH)
• 3+ years Knowledge network and integration abilities to be able to work on multiple protocols like BACnet, Modbus, OPC, LON, etc.
• 3+ years Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and diagrams.
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Travel up to 75% throughout Southern U.S. and Caribbean
