Job description

The Lead Field Service Technician will commission Honeywell control systems – HVAC control systems. These systems are engineered by Honeywell’s in-house engineers, installed by electrical subcontractors, and then commissioned by Honeywell field technicians in various commercial buildings such as office buildings, schools, universities, airports, and hospitals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coach and mentor Associate Install Technical Specialists and Install Technical Specialists in system installation and onsite coordination with contractors.
  2. Improve commissioning practices to reduce hours per device or system using Honeywell Operation Systems techniques.
  3. Demonstrate expert knowledge of Honeywell systems and industry best practices.
  4. Install pre-engineered software, checkout control systems, start-up, and commission systems; fine-tune operations to meet customer requirements or specifications, utilizing productivity tools like wireless commissioning.
  5. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, implement changes to meet specifications, and potentially re-engineer or redesign systems.
  6. Perform open systems and/or third-party integrations.
  7. Support scope of work adherence and manage change orders to protect financial impact.
  8. Ensure Configuration Management policies are followed, including backups and final archiving on Honeywell Server (ADEPT).
  9. Coordinate with other trades, customers, general contractors, mechanical contractors, and engineering teams to understand scope, hardware/software, graphics, and as-built details.
  10. Assist sales/project managers with surveys, application selection, retrofit opportunities, and complex solutions; present to customers and consultants as needed.
  11. Conduct hazard and risk assessments per Honeywell policies and regulations.
  12. Maintain up-to-date documentation and paperwork.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience with HVAC systems, control systems, mechanical operations, and building facilities.
  • Over 5 years of experience with building systems, programming, PC, and network knowledge.
  • At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet browsers.
  • Ability to travel within the service area, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Valid driver’s license acceptable to Honeywell standards.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

VALUED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Niagara N4 experience and certification.
  • HVAC license.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
  • Expertise in HVAC and control systems, mechanical operations, and building facilities.
  • Proficiency in working with multiple protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, OPC, LON.
