The Lead Field Service Technician will commission Honeywell control systems, specifically HVAC control systems. These systems are engineered by Honeywell’s in-house engineers, installed by electrical subcontractors, and then commissioned by Honeywell field technicians in various commercial buildings such as office buildings, schools, universities, airports, and hospitals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coach and mentor Associate Install Technical Specialists and Install Technical Specialists in system installation and onsite coordination with contractors.
- Improve commissioning practices by reducing hours per device and system using Honeywell Operation Systems techniques.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of Honeywell systems and industry best practices.
- Install pre-engineered software, checkout control systems, start-up, commission systems, and fine-tune operations per customer requirements or job specifications. Utilize productivity tools like wireless commissioning.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, implementing changes to meet specifications, including re-engineering or system re-design if necessary.
- Perform Open systems and/or third-party integrations.
- Support financial scope of work by supporting change orders when appropriate.
- Follow Configuration Management policies, backing up changes during installation and archiving hardware/software on Honeywell Server (ADEPT).
- Coordinate with other trades, customers, general contractors, mechanical contractors, and engineering teams to understand scope and details.
- Assist sales/project managers with surveys, application selection, retrofit opportunities, and complex solutions; present to customers/consultants as needed.
- Conduct hazard and risk assessments per Honeywell policies and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and paperwork.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with HVAC systems, control systems, mechanical system operation, and building facilities.
- 5+ years of experience with building systems, programming, PC, and network knowledge.
- 1+ year of experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet browsers.
- Ability to travel within the service area, including occasional overnight stays.
- Valid driver’s license meeting Honeywell standards.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
VALUED ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
- Niagara N4 experience and certification.
- HVAC license.
- Ability to interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and diagrams.
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
- Expertise in HVAC, control systems, and building facilities.
- Proficiency with multiple protocols like BACnet, Modbus, OPC, LON.
