Job summary

Skill is seeking a senior Fiber/Telecom SME to own a large-scale utility-grade deployment in New York. You will architect fiber networks, define requirements, develop RFPs, coordinate vendors, and lead field implementation and migrations.

You will drive design decisions for MPLS/DWDM, manage multiple sites, and ensure reliability for critical infrastructure. Travel and field work are required; a driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Eng with 8+ years, 3+ in relay protection or control systems.
  • Master’s in Electrical or Mechanical Eng with 6+ years, 3+ in relay protection or control systems.
  • At least 3 years fiber/telecommunications infrastructure experience, incl large-scale network deployment.
  • Utility/substation telecom experience, with deep understanding of critical infrastructure.
  • Expertise in fiber design, architecture, cabling, and infrastructure requirements.
  • Proven ability in RFP creation, vendor management, and large-scale project coordination.
  • Strong knowledge of MPLS, DWDM, T1, and related telecom technologies.
  • Experience with system migration and integration in utility-grade networks.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as SME and project owner for a large-scale, utility-grade fiber deployment.
  • Own technical approach from requirements to RFPs, vendor coordination, and migration.
  • Develop scalable fiber architecture meeting critical infrastructure demands.
  • Create comprehensive technical specs and RFP documentation.
  • Coordinate external vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support deployment and migration across multiple operational sites.
  • Prioritize fiber design and architecture in first 6–12 months.
  • Manage vendor/contractor relationships to align with goals and standards.
  • Coordinate deployment activities at diverse sites and sites.
  • Oversee system migration/integration with minimal disruption.
