Job summary

Ampere Computing LLC is seeking a Principal Failure Analysis (FI/FA) Engineer to lead breakdown analysis and fault isolation for advanced SoCs and platforms. You will define FI/FA strategies, drive fault triage methodologies, and oversee physical analysis activities to quickly determine root causes in complex silicon.

You will collaborate with Design, DFT, Product, Test, and Reliability teams, delivering data-driven FA reports and shaping design for future generations.{$REPLACE$} The role

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on semiconductor FI/FA experience.
• Deep CMOS device physics knowledge and FinFET technologies.
• Experience with a wide range of fault isolation tools.
• Proficiency in physical analysis techniques (SEM/FIB, TEM).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Experience managing external FA labs and SOWs.
• Familiarity with ATE test platforms and datalogs.
• Experience with RMAs and quality organizations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a FI/FA strategy aligned to Ampere’s roadmap.
• Establish failure triage and physical analysis methodologies.
• Lead FI/FA investigations from wafer sort to RMAs.
• Perform EFI and guide PFA activities with sample prep and imaging.
• Correlate defects to electrical signatures and datalogs.
• Author data-driven FA reports for peers and leadership.
• Manage external FA labs and define statements of work.
