Job summary

Ampere in Portland, OR is seeking an experienced Failure Analysis (FI/FA) Engineer to own the FI/FA strategy across cutting-edge silicon products. You will perform hands-on fault isolation, guide PFA activities, and drive root-cause analysis collaborating with Design, DFT, Product, Test, and Reliability teams.

You will also define methodologies, manage external FA labs, and translate complex data into clear FA reports for technical peers and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on semiconductor FI/FA experience.
• Deep understanding of CMOS device physics and FinFET technology.
• Experience with fault isolation tools and physical analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive FI/FA strategy to support Ampere’s roadmap.
• Establish methodologies for failure triage, isolation, and physical analysis.
• Lead complex failure investigations on wafer sort, final test, HTOL/HAST, and RMAs.
• Perform EFI and guide PFA activities, including sample prep and imaging.
• Correlate defects to electrical signatures and datalogs to determine root cause.
• Prepare and present FA reports to peers, management, and leadership.
• Manage relationships with external FA labs and SOWs.
