Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor invites applications for an Engineer, Analysis Engineering to perform physical failure analysis (pFA) on diverse FA requests and support NPI and product transfers with cross-functional teams. You will identify root causes, select analytical techniques, and deliver timely results to internal and external customers.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Manufacturing and Engineering, presenting findings in customer meetings, and generating high-quality FA reports

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering or a related field, with undergrad coursework/research/internship covering failure analysis, defect characterization, and process understanding.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing/fabrication processes and materials characterization techniques.
• Ability to monitor, debug test failures and conduct root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physical failure analysis (pFA) on various FA requests, including low yield lots, baseline material, qualifications, and customer returned samples.
• Identify cause of failure by sampling and selecting optimal analysis techniques for fast, accurate results for internal and external customers.
• Support manufacturing and engineering teams with pFA results for NPI and product transfer activities.
• Represent Analysis Engineering in foundry customer meetings with on-time analysis results.
• Analyze electrical and imaging results to find root causes and publish findings to team and customers.
• Recommend analysis approaches based on failure mode data and electrical isolation results.
• Generate and compile high quality FA reports for internal and external customers.
• Develop methods to improve the team’s analysis capability and reduce turnaround time.
