Job summary

Amazon in Austin, TX is seeking a senior Industrial Engineer to lead layout design across manufacturing lines, warehouses, and logistics spaces, driving space utilization and flow efficiency.

You will develop long-term site master plans, define layout governance, integrate PFEP, and partner with cross-functional teams to translate data into actionable insights for capacity expansion and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related STEM field.
• 7+ years in site/factory layout planning or manufacturing systems.
• Experience in large-scale manufacturing environments (e.g., automotive, energy, heavy industry).
• Strong understanding of site planning, material flow, and facility design principles.
• Experience using data and analysis to drive decisions and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead factory layout design across manufacturing lines, warehouse/storage areas, material flow, people flow, and ancillary spaces.
• Develop long-term site master plans to support phased capacity expansion and scalability.
• Define and implement layout governance, including change management and drafting standards.
• Create and maintain block layouts and 2D/3D layouts aligned with POR and business needs.
• Design and optimize end-to-end material flow (inbound, internal logistics, outbound).
• Own overall site layout, including building placement, external logistics flow, utilities, and infrastructure planning.
• Optimize dock utilization, yard flow, and transportation interfaces for logistics efficiency.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to align layout requirements and execution.
• Perform data-driven analysis to optimize space utilization, flow efficiency, labor productivity, and cost.
• Develop and integrate PFEP into layout decisions; track layout performance metrics.
