Job summary

McGaw YMCA in Evanston, IL is seeking a Building Services technician (Grade 4) who can work independently to perform corrective actions and repairs across the facility. This role requires maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and pool knowledge, with a focus on safety and quality workmanship.

You will support outside vendors, assist in safety inspections, and adapt to early mornings, late evenings, or weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience in plumbing, electrical and/or carpentry.
• CPR/First Aid/ AED certification required within 3 months.
• Certified Pool Operator certification preferred or within 3 months.
• Certifications in plumbing, electrical, and/or HVAC preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency for work orders, time and attendance, and email.

Responsibilities

• Perform corrective actions and repairs to keep the facility in good condition.
• Apply maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and pool knowledge.
• Support outside vendors and participate in safety inspections.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness to improve member satisfaction.
• Flexibility with early mornings, evenings and weekend shifts.
